Topic: Molecular visualization by mass spectrometry imaging: Application from biomedical science
Dr. Bindesh is a senior application support scientist with Waters Corporaation. He has co-authored more than two dozen peer-reviewed articles in the field of mass spectrometry spanning over the last eight years. His publication have been featured multiple times on the covers of leading journals, such as Angewandte Chemie, Analytical Chemistry, etc. Currently, he has more than 1250 citations and h-index of 18.
Since the introduction of mass spectrometry imaging in the late 1990s, the technique has been gaining utility in clinical research, biomedical research, and pharma research. In the last few years, many novel techniques have been developed to ionize molecules directly off the tissue, such as matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI). In this presentation, we will introduce the principle of mass spec imaging for the spatial distribution of molecules and its application to a variety of biomedical samples with focus on disease pathology and biomarker discovery.
