CHDS-Nepal organized a Meet and Greet between research laboratories and researchers

CHDS-Nepal organized the first ever an informal “Meet and Greet” event to interact with research laboratories and researchers on 20th March, 2018 at its office at Sankhamul, Kathmandu. The event was attended by researchers from laboratories based in Kathmandu:

Dr. Basanta Giri and Dr. Sajeev Wagle from Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences (KIAS),
Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari from Research Institute for Biosciences and Biotechnology (RIBB),
Dr. Suresh Manandhar from York University, United Kingdom/Nepal Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute for Research (NAMII),
Mr. Anurag Adhikari from Kathmandu Research Institute for Biological Sciences (KRIBS),
Dr. Gaurishankar Manandhar from Central Department of Biotechnology, Tribhuvan University,
Dr. Ashim Dhakal from Phutung Research Institute (PRI),
Mr. Ananda Ghimire from Department of Blood transfusion, Institute of Medicine, TUTH,
Dr. Rajiv Chaulagain from KIST Medical College,
Dr. Deena Shrestha, Mr. Bivek Timalsina, Ms. Rojita Tuladhar and Ms. Samikshya Kafle from CHDS-Nepal,
Dr. Bishesh Khanal from NAMII and Dr. Roshan Shrestha from CHDS-Nepal attended the event through online.
The main objective of this event was to know each other personally and share ideas between researchers. With the growing number of research organizations in Nepal, we feel the lack of communication between each other, therefore we believe that this kind of interaction program brings the researchers closer that ultimately be beneficial for researchers and students in Nepal.
The event started with an introductory session of the researchers, research institutes and their expertise and objectives. Introductory session was followed by an open discussion session on various agendas such as collaboration, sharing of facilities and ideas, formation of a research alliance, academic involvements, research misconducts and its control etc. The event concluded with the agreement on organizing similar event monthly in rotation basis. As a follow up, the next meeting will be organized by the Phutung Research Institute (PRI).
