Being biogeographically diverse, Nepal is a unique place with genomic and disease variability. However, it has a very few biomedical research laboratories exploiting these resources. Therefore, with a major aim to establish and develop biomedical research facility in Nepal, Center for Health and Disease Studies-Nepal (CHDS-Nepal) was established in 2015 by a group of Nepali researchers with common interest in biomedical research. CHDS-Nepal is the result of several years of homework and rigorous planning by its team members who have gained several years of research experiences in various fields- Immunology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Caner Genetics/Epigenetics.
CHDS-Nepal is registered as a non-governmental organization under Kathmandu District Administration (Regd No123) and Social Welfare Council (Regd no42051), Nepal. It is actively driven by research based activities in the field of human health and diseases. This organization liaises with national and international organizations, primarily for developing biomedical research in Nepal, as well as supporting and consulting in national policy making level on public health, science and technology areas.
